nutri.me

nutri.me is a mobile app concept designed to help users create healthy meal plans tailored to their physical needs, social context, and dietary restrictions or preferences. Developed as part of the Human-Computer Interaction course at UFRJ, the project follows the Double Diamond methodology, combining user research, usability testing, and high-fidelity prototyping to deliver a personalized nutrition service at an accessible cost.

The project was a team effort by Gabriele Jandres, Iago Rafael, Lilian Acioly, Seth Pimenta, and Victor Cardoso. Each member contributed across research, ideation, design, and validation — ensuring a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach.

challenge.

The challenge was to answer a complex question: "How can we choose a healthy menu tailored to each person’s physical and social needs, while respecting their dietary preferences and restrictions?"

This required addressing several intertwined problems — from users lacking nutritional knowledge to the high costs of consulting a professional — and designing a solution that could bridge accessibility, personalization, and affordability.

process.

The project followed the Double Diamond approach, combining research, design, and validation:

  • Quantitative Research: 89 survey responses on demographics, income, restrictions, and eating habits.

  • Qualitative Research: Interviews with 3 nutritionists, validating a hybrid digital model.

  • Personas & User Stories: Defined both nutritionist and end-user profiles to prioritize features.

  • UX Canvas & Sitemap: Structured insights into navigation flows and app logic.

  • Visual Identity: Friendly, modern brand with green-based palette, light salmon CTAs, and Poppins typography.

  • High-Fidelity Prototype: Onboarding, search & filters, meal plans, consultations, and profiles — all designed and iterated in Figma.

results.

Usability testing revealed high task success rates but identified one critical improvement: the “Book In-Person Consultation” option was perceived as an ad banner, reducing discoverability. We addressed this by moving the option directly into the profile screen.

The project demonstrated the potential of a subscription-based service connecting users to affordable, personalized meal plans by certified nutritionists. Future steps include a web version for nutritionists (managing profiles, bank data, and consultations) and a mobile app focused on the client experience.
